University Students

Are you apprehensive about moving from high school to university? Does the idea of living away from home seem daunting?  Are you anxious about all the new challenges of independence?  Having to cook, do washing and iron? Moving to a new area and having to build a whole new group of friends and colleagues?And what about the challenges of the course itself?  Does the prospect of exams at higher education level worry you?
It's perfectly normal to find such a major upheaval in your life daunting.  It's ok to ask for help.  I've worked with many university students finding ways to master their concerns and lead a full and exciting university life.  Don’t let your fears stop you from fully engaging in what many people believe to be one of the best times of their life.

After working with me, university students embrace their new independence with a growth mindset, facing challenges and finding ways to overcome them.  They never give up.  They use learning to find solutions.   There are many scenarios we can work on together including:

  • Coping with change;
    You can never stop change, but you can learn to cope and adapt. We will work to make your thoughts more flexible when it comes to change.  You will learn techniques to look positively at change, to 'roll with the punches and even embrace them!
  • Defining your well-formed outcomes;
    We will look at where you want to get to, how you want to get there and by when? We'll break it down into smaller steps towards achievement. What exactly do you want to achieve? Where are you now in regards to this? How will you know when you have it? And what resources do you need that you do not have now?
  • Alleviating exam stress;
    Controlling nerves plays a big part in exam success. To get you there we'll implement routines to minimise the stress, master the anxiety, get your sleep and appetite back and use the right kind of stress to work for you rather than against you.
  • Self-motivation;
    Do you get to the point where studying drops off the top of your agenda? Does getting back on track seem too big a climb?  I'll provide you with methods to boost self-motivation. I'll show you tools like creating a vision board, rewarding yourself when you study, and visualising what happens to you pass will keep you on track.  And I'll lead you in mindfulness sessions to help keep the anxiety away.
  • Relationship building;
    Building happy, strong relationships benefits you. It's better for physical and emotional health and it benefits your career or hobbies.  Why? Surrounding yourself with the right network leads to amazing opportunities in life. I'll provide you with the tools to build positive relationships and to deal with and improve less positive ones.  And I'll help you recognise those that are toxic and show you how to surround yourself with the right, rather than the wrong people.
